Why is it Important to Make Sure Your Roofing Company is a Licensed Contractor in Georgia?
It’s extremely important to make sure that your roofing contractor is properly qualified to perform a construction project on your home. In the state of Georgia, there is no such thing as a “roofing contractor license.” However, any person performing construction work totaling over $2500 in the state of Georgia should hold a General Contractor license.
Having this license proves that whoever is working on your property knows the proper ways to care for your home, install it, and keep your property safe throughout the project. Most importantly, they have the skills and resolutions to handle any unexpected additional scope of work that may pop up during the work.
It is dangerous to work with someone who is unlicensed for many reasons, but primarily because it runs a greater risk that they are not insured. Be sure to ask anyone who works on your property for proof of their GC license, a liability waiver, and a copy of their current certificate of insurance (COI).
It’s also a great idea to ask for reviews and references, especially references you can call and ask about their experience yourself.
